About Project

TripInDubai is a travel agency that offers travel planning and organization services. Our task was to design a modern dashboard for their staff that would enable them to efficiently manage tours. The dashboard needed to have an open and spacious design, while also providing all the essential information about tours and customers in an easily accessible manner. Above all, the dashboard should be user-friendly and intuitive to use.

User Research

As a UI/UX designer for a travel agency, one of my most important tasks is to ensure that the staff dashboard meets the needs of our employees and helps them perform their jobs efficiently. To achieve this goal, I conducted user research to gather insights and feedback from our staff members.

Here’s an example of the user research I conducted and the results I obtained:

Research MethodResearch QuestionParticipantResult
Online SurveyWhat features do you use most often on the staff dashboard?Customer Service RepsThe most frequently used features were “Tour details,” “booking management,” and “stats.”
One-on-One InterviewHow do you feel about the current layout and organization of the staff dashboard?Sales RepresentativesThe interviewee felt that the layout was cluttered and that the information was difficult to find. They suggested that the dashboard could be more organized and that certain information should be more prominently displayed.
Card Sorting ExerciseHow would you categorize the various features on the staff dashboard?Travel AgentsParticipants tended to group features into categories such as “customer management,” “booking management,” and “financial management.”

Based on these findings, I made several changes to the staff dashboard to better meet the needs of our staff members:

  • I reorganized the dashboard to make it more visually appealing and easier to navigate. This included grouping similar features together and reducing clutter.
  • I added more prominent and easily accessible buttons for the most frequently used features such as “Stats,” “booking management,” and “Tour details.”
  • I made changes to the information architecture of the dashboard based on the feedback received in the one-on-one interviews to make it more intuitive and easier to find information.

The result was a more user-friendly and efficient staff dashboard that better met the needs of our staff members. This research helped me gain valuable insights into the user’s needs and pain points and allowed me to design a better product that was tailored to their needs.

In conclusion, user research is a critical component of the UI/UX design process, and conducting research in a structured and organized way can lead to actionable insights that can improve the design of a product. By using methods such as online surveys, one-on-one interviews, and card sorting exercises, designers can gain a better understanding of user needs and preferences and create products that are more user-centered and effective.
